Martin Meltzer was a true prince among
men. He is remembered by all who knew him as a man whose warmth,
concern, compassion, generosity, intelligence, humor and his class
greatly influenced and improved the lives of all he touched.
Martin passed peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 24, 2010,
surrounded by his children and caretakers. Martin was an extraordinary
husband, brother, grandparent, friend and "the best Dad in the world" as
described by his children.
Martin was brought up in Brooklyn, NY where, upon the early passing
of his parents, Solomon and Elsie, he raised his two younger brothers,
Samuel and Irwin. Martin graduated from the NYS Maritime Academy, Fort
Sklyer. Martin was both an officer and an engineer. Throughout his life,
Martin made life long friends. Martin gave service to our Country as a
United States Merchant Marine. His repeated crossings of dangerous seas
helped the United States War effort in World War II and thereafter.
Martin then went into the Real Estate Brokerage business in the late
1950's and founded Best Realty Company in Brooklyn, NY. As an
entrepreneur and businessman, Martin provided a living to his family and
enabled many others to do the same. During his long career as a Broker,
his warmth helped and was enjoyed by all those he touched.
In recent years, Martin supported the cause and need to create the
Equal Parenting Party USA Inc. Martin firmly believed that children
need both parents, both grand parents and continued relations with
extended family after removal of one parent from their children. He was
a visionary in many ways.
Martin enjoyed travelling the world with his wife Gwen Meltzer. He
enjoyed fishing, cards, many sports and socialized with others in a way
where he positively embraced and improved the lives of all around him.
He is missed by all whom he left behind.
As a husband, Martin gave life long love, devotion and care to his
wife, Gwen Meltzer. Martin gave the same love, devotion and care as a
Grandparent and Father. Martin leaves behind his five grand children,
Emilee, Jeremy, Leila, Eli and Gwen, his two children Stuart and Tammy,
and his brother Samuel along many others whom he loved and who loved
him.
